Tips for Penny Stock Investing | Penny Stocks

Penny Stock Investing

Penny Stock Investing is Requires Learning New Skills

Penny stock investing is not about long-term benefits. As such, learning to invest in penny stocks requires ignoring most of the rules that you have may have learned about the stock market in general. Unlike the typical form of investment, this type of investing requires that investors concentrate more on speed than on holding on the stock, and that research on short-term gains and losses becomes much more important than research about long-term trends. If you can focus on acquiring the necessary skills, though, you may find this segment of the market to be quite profitable.

Penny Stock Investing Relies on Speed and Accuracy

Your first step towards penny stock investing success relies in your trading speed. This does not necessarily rely upon the speed of your internet connection or your ability to press the right button, but it does rely upon the speed of your decision-making processes. Penny stocks move at a faster rate than any other type of stock, and you have to learn the perfect moment at which to buy or sell. A few minutes can mean the difference between success and failure, and it seems like a lifetime of opportunities can slip away in a second or two.

At the same time, you have to learn how to ignore the long-term. In typical stock investing, the intelligent course is generally to find a stock that moves in a stable upward pattern and to stick with it. In penny stock investing, though, the dynamic stocks are the most important. One must learn how to pick the right stock in the morning and be willing to understand that the stock will be gone by the close of the business day. Your goal should be to make your money quickly, not to get attached to a stock.

If you want to invest in penny stocks, you have to realize that it is an entirely different market. If you can unlearn your old skills and learn new tricks, you might succeed. Penny stock investing is not for everyone, but those who master it can reap unbelievable rewards.

Breaking Links (Avengers 2, Game Consoles, and More!)

Aside from the fact that I still have a horrible wracking cough (sounds awful, but actually isn?t all that bad), this has been a pretty cool week. Found out a lot of wonderful things about a lot of wonderful people, so I?m feeling the love and wanting to share!

Come closer! I must hug you!

Oh well. Guess I?ll have to give you links instead.

1. In dibs! news, Ouya is a kickstarter funded woman-created gaming console that?s going to retail for just $99! Seeking to unite the worlds of casual gamers and more hardcore console jockeys, Ouya has an Android-based operating system, and looks like it?s going to be a pretty big step forward for the industry. Or, if not that, then at least pretty cool. Check out the specs here, and a fun new game you should totally be playing here. 2. In squeeeeeee news, Joss Whedon has been confirmed as the writer-director of Avengers 2, which should put all of our nervous hearts at ease. He?s kind of a little bit good at this. It?s also pretty cool to think that prior to Avengers he?d never directed a hit movie, and now they?re giving him another one! He?s also contracted to help Marvel develop some TV shows, and I just want to say that I am pumped. Check out the full story here. 3. In urgh-you?re-a-good-person news, Misha Collins from Supernatural has long been a celeb-crush of mine. Or rather, a celeb-friend-crush. I mostly just want to get some tea and pick his brain. Anyway, a few years ago he started a non-profit with his Twitter followers called Random Acts. They just completed their second trip down to Haiti to help build new structures for towns devastated by the earthquake a few years back. Click here to read more about the trip and find out more about how you can help! It?s pretty cool.

4. In yes-more-Game-of-Thrones-jokes news, the good folks over at Cracked! have made a really funny video about the psychological effects of watching Game of Thrones, especially if you play the companion game, Game of Thrones: The Game (of Thrones). It?s funny. Trust me.

5. In best-kind-of-progress, Garry Trudeau?s Doonesbury will be hitting an important turning point soon. The main character of the daily strip (which is one of my faves) will be shifting from Michael Doonesbury to his daughter, Alex. It?s a pretty cool announcement, especially given that this is really the first time anything like this has happened. Check out the full story here, and if you aren?t, you should read Doonesbury. True facts.

6. In yes-two-videos news, I don?t actually have a lot to say about this video except to explain that as we contemplate the pictures Curiosity is sending back from Mars, it?s good to get a larger perspective on our cosmos. And I suggest that we all do it by watching this awesome time lapse vid of the night sky. Seriously, pop on some Enya and just chill to this.

Well, that?s it for this week! Tune in tomorrow at 6pm PDT for Crossover Appeal (you can find us on Facebook and Google+), and we?ll be back on Monday.

If you feel like there?s anything we missed, or you want to promote your own stuff, do it in the links below!

Thousands are expected to attend Friday's wake at Oak Creek High School, where the bodies of the six victims will lie in repose, according to local Sikh?leaders. Among those expected to attend were?Wisconsin?Governor?Scott Walker?and Attorney General?Eric Holder.

"Grief shared is grief halved," said?Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal, a spokesperson for the Sikh?community in?Milwaukee, referring to the dozens of vigils for the victims held throughout the nation this week.

"It restores our faith in humanity. We are overwhelmed by the response," he added.

Satwant Singh Kaleka, the 65-year-old president of the congregation, was among the victims. The others who died were Sita Singh, 41;?Ranjit Singh, 49;?Prakash Singh, 39; Paramjit Kaur, 41; and?Suveg Singh, 84.

The gunman, Wade Michael Page, a 40-year-old U.S. Army veteran with links to racist groups, also wounded three others seriously when he opened fire on worshipers Sunday morning. Page was shot in the stomach by a responding officer before dying of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

The two-hour wake will be held in the high school's gymnasium about two miles (3.2 km) south of the Sikh?Temple of?Wisconsin?where the shooting occurred. Sikh?religious leaders will lead prayers and hymns during the ceremony as a procession of mourners pass the bodies.

The wake will be followed by private funeral ceremonies in the afternoon at a crematorium.

Investigators, who are still searching for a motive, released the temple back to the Sikh?congregation on Thursday morning.

(AP) ? American nuns described as dissenters in a Vatican report that ordered an overhaul of their group said Friday they will talk with church leaders about potential changes but will not compromise on the sisters' mission.

Sister Pat Farrell, president of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, called the Vatican assessment of the organization a "misrepresentation." But she said the more than 900 women who attended the group's national assembly this week decided they would for now stay open to discussion with three bishops the Vatican appointed to oversee them.

"The officers will proceed with these discussions as long as possible but will reconsider if LCWR is forced to compromise the integrity of its mission," Farrell said at a news conference, where she declined to discuss specifics.

The organization represents about 80 percent of the 57,000 Roman Catholic nuns in the U.S.

The St. Louis meeting was the group's first national gathering since a Vatican review concluded the sisters had "serious doctrinal problems" and promoted "certain radical feminist themes" that undermine Catholic teaching on all-male priesthood, birth control and homosexuality. The nuns also were criticized for remaining nearly silent in the fight against abortion.

Farrell acknowledged the nuns' plan going forward was vague, but noted the process would stretch over five years and had only just started. The board is expected to meet this weekend with Seattle Archbishop Peter Sartain, who will be in charge of the overhaul.

"Dialogue on doctrine is not going to be our starting point," Farrell said. "Our starting point will be about our own life and about our understanding of religious life, and the (Vatican) document's, in our view, misrepresentation of that, and we'll see how it unfolds from there."

The Vatican orthodoxy watchdog, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, undertook the assessment in 2008, following years of complaints from theological conservatives that the American nuns' group had become secular and political while abandoning traditional faith.

The critique, issued in April, prompted a nationwide outpouring of support for the sisters, including parish vigils, protests outside the Vatican embassy in Washington and a congressional resolution commending the sisters for their service to the country.

After the Second Vatican Council of the 1960s, many religious sisters shed their habits and traditional roles as they sought to more fully engage the modern world. The nuns said prayer and Christ remained central to their work as they focused increasingly on Catholic social justice teaching, such as fighting poverty and advocating for civil rights.

"I think what we want is to finally, at some end stage of the process, to be recognized and understood as equal in the church, that our form of religious life can be respected and affirmed," Farrell said Friday.

She said she wanted to create church environment that allows them to "openly and honestly search for truth together, to talk about issues that are very complicated and there is not that climate right now."

The Vatican review occurred at a time when the future of women's religious orders in the U.S. already was in question. The number of sisters has dwindled from about 180,000 in 1965 to 57,000 now, according to the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate at Georgetown University. The average age of the sisters who remain is around the 70s. While some orders are recruiting new candidates, many still are struggling to keep them.

The Vatican has separately conducted an Apostolic Visitation, or investigation, of all the U.S. women's religious orders, looking at quality of life, response to dissent and "the soundness of doctrine held and taught" by the women. The results of that inquiry have not been released.

Cardinal William Levada, who until recently was the head of the office that conducted the Vatican assessment, had told The National Catholic Reporter that if church leaders cannot reach some agreement with the sisters' group, the Vatican could withdraw official recognition.

In 1992, the Vatican already had created a separate U.S. group for sisters with a traditional approach to religious life. The Conference of Major Superiors of Women Religious represents about 20 percent of American nuns.

Still, Farrell gave no sign that her group would back down.

In a speech Friday morning, she said the sisters have been asking themselves whether the Vatican assessment was an "expression of concern or an attempt to control?" Farrell ended the address with a phrase she learned while serving the church in Chile when the country was under a military dictatorship.

"They can crush a few flowers, but they can't hold back the springtime," she said, before receiving a standing ovation.

Avoiding Remodeling Contractor Fraud | SafePact Blog - Posterous

Home improvement contractorShort for ?general contractor? a contractor is an individual hired by a homeownerUsually the name-on-the-mortgage/pays-the-bills person, the homeowner is the one who contacts the contractor to do a jobA job is a term for whatever tasks are in the contract for the contractor to do. These are generally more specific than ?home maintenance? and usually are broken down into a scope of work which contains each individual task such as plumbing, electrical, or drywall. They are the point person for Safepact on things like funding the transaction, approving the work, and releasing payment to the contractor. or an architect to oversee work that is being done on a home. Sometimes the work will be done by the contractor, but often times the contractor will hire subcontractors to do some or all of the work. For a more detailed explanation of contractors and their responsibilities read more about it on our blog. fraud is a common problem in every state across the country.? Processing homeowner complaints of contractor malfeasance is a large part of the workload for the Better Business Bureau as well as the state?s Attorney General and district attorney.? In many regions contractor fraud is a punishable felony offense and also a civil crime.? This pervasive fraud is aggressively prosecuted by the authorities, yet the victim rarely receives restitution and they often have the added problem of shoddy repairs to resolve after the shady contractor has run off with their money.

For a large number of homeowners, particularly senior citizens, home improvement and repair projects are very stressful in their own right.? There are the estimates, the decisions to make, the money to arrange, and an assortment of complexities to consider.? These processes can cause many a homeowner to wish for a simple solution and this exposes ones vulnerable side.? Most con artists have practiced their craft on many victims and are keen to immediately spot a vulnerability and take advantage of it.

Truly, there?s not much you can do to recover your losses when you are a victim of contractor fraud because the perpetrators are usually repeat offenders with whom the authorities have been unsuccessful in stopping their scams.? I have a good deal of personal experience as a lender encountering contractor fraud in the general course of my career.? While researching this article, I found approximately 38 states have strict licensingJust like a driver?s license certain contractors must be licensed to do particular jobs associated with your home improvement project. Plumbing and electrical licenses are two of the main licenses to keep track of. Also like a driver?s license the requirements to gain a license vary from state to state, so make sure your contractor is licensed in your state. Some counties and even municipalities can require licensing. requirements and laws in place to aimed at curbing contractor fraud.? The sad reality is no law can eliminate criminals from perpetrating their acts but measures are needed to make it troublesome for those who wish to commit fraud.

In an attempt to be concise in a busy world the intent of this article is to convince you to think rationally and cautiously when selecting your home improvement contractor.? Some of this information will be very helpful to know what to avoid.

Door to Door Sales Pitches- Never allow anyone who comes to your door soliciting home repair service. This is very common after a storm and often comes from a skilled out of town scammer who is an expert at skimming a group of unsuspecting homeowners out of large sums of money.

Verbal Quote Only- By all means avoid the contractor who offers a slick verbal explanation of the projectA home improvement project is anything associated with improving, maintaining, or renovating your home. This is the specific reason that you hired the contractor and the job that they are completing. but is too excited about immediately starting your project or pre-occupied with a project in close proximity to yours.? A fast talking proposal without a written description of the work and cost of the project is a recipe for disaster.

Out of Town Contractor- Generally it is best to avoid using the services of an out of town contractor or tradesman.? Most of the time these individuals or teams come to an area after a violent storm and look to clean up on desperate and unsophisticated homeowners who are distressed about the storm damage.? There is little that can be done to recover any damages or leverage that can be placed on out of town contractors to return to the site to complete work.

Material Overruns- Many scam artist contractors will knock on doors in an area and present homeowners with an Incredible Offer to perform a certain job because they just happen to have the exact materials left over from another job.? Many times the materials are on a trailer that they can show you and by being at the right place at the right time this deal is available to you.? Legitimate remodeling contractors do not ride around with materials in their truck looking for folks to offer the deal of the day.? Most of these con men have either stolen the material or come about? it in some other nefarious manner.? There have been some cases where the stolen materials had to be removed or paid for a second time to the rightful owner.

Home Improvement contractor fraud is a very common problem in all areas of the country.? There are many scammers out there committing this type of fraud because home repair and improvement projects usually amount to larger sums of money on average so it presents an opportunity for the scammers to hit it big.? As with everything in life there absolute means to prevent from being a victim of fraud but a measure of common sense combined with current information about common fraud techniques will provide you with a level of confidence to notice a situation which does not pass the smell test and help you avoid the grief and financial setback of being a home repair fraud victim.? Many municipalities and states have taken a very proactive approach to preventing home contractor fraud.? There are some stringent regulations and licensing requirements that legitimate contractors must adhere to but these regulations can only go so far and much of the responsibility is up to the homeowner.? Sadly most of the regulations can not prevent scam victims from suffering significant financial losses from being victimized by fraud.? At the end of the day the most damage resulting in home repair fraud is typically the financial hardship created by the loss of money to the perpetrator and the cost of remediating the damage caused to the property as a result of a shoddy and or incomplete repair.? We all have experienced aggravation and bruised egos by being taken advantaged of in the past but a significant financial loss can be a burden of long term consequence.

About the author: Ryan Johnston has served many homeowners home improvement financing needs over the past 10 years.? In his position as a commercial lender with a community bank in the southeast he was responsible for originating and overseeing the funding process of residential construction and home improvement loans.? He has hands on experience dealing with the challenges and joys homeowners experience in the construction and home improvement process.
